Meeting Agenda

  1. Update on Expanding Chinese Language Capacity in Washington State Initiative from the International Education Leadership Summit in January (David Woodward)

    Growing interest in Chinese language including a possible Confucius Institute. Stay tuned.
     

  2. Update on State Innovations Grant 2006 Project deliverables
    (Greg Tuke, 2006 State Innovations Grant Project Director)

    We reviewed the project deliverables. The Coalition is not organizing its own International Education Summit this year, but hopes to collaborate on the Global Citizenship Forum being organized by Seattle S.D. and OSPI.
     

  3. Update on National Coalition Network meeting of project directors in DC in June (Greg Tuke & Michele Anciaux Aoki)

    Very interesting meeting with useful new resources from Asia Society and an opportunity to speak to our Congressmen about upcoming legislation.
     

  4. Update on Washington Learns effort and implications for International Education (Michele Anciaux Aoki)

    Note: plans for Education Summit on November 13 when the final Washington Learns recommendations are announced.

     

  5. Update on Washington State PTA Legislative Issue (PDF) on International Education and World Languages (Michele Anciaux Aoki)
     

  6. Charting a course for 2006-2007 (David Woodward, Steering Committee Chair)

    Is it time to consider making the Coalition its own 501(c)3 organization?
