The Goals:
To
engage and mobilize communities in a critical dialogue on Global
Citizenship, the role of languages, international awareness and cultural
competence in preparing students to participate in their global future.
The purposes:
- To preserve students’ first cultural identity and language.
- To develop multilingual and multicultural capacities for all students and communities.
- To prepare students for success in a global economy through the development of cognitive, linguistic, and cultural competencies.
Target audiences:
- Educators (principals, teachers, school personnel, P-20)
- Parents of all students who are learning and/or wish to learn additional languages (English Language Learners (ELL), Immersion, Foreign Language in the Elementary School (FLES), etc.)
- Students in Teacher Education Programs
- Business leaders in diverse communities
- Community-based Organizations who support diverse communities.
