Press Release 9/3/2003

Washington State Coalition for International Education in the 21st Century announces:

INTERNATIONAL TEACHING RESOURCE GUIDE PUBLISHED FOR WASHINGTON STATE

In preparation for the upcoming International Education Summit in Washington State on September 18th, the World Affairs Council is publishing a teaching resource guide for international educators in our state. This comprehensive and user-friendly guide  summarizes best practices and global teaching resources available to K-12 educators throughout Washington State. The guide, which was funded by a grant from the Asia Society, also serves to inform international educators and policy makers about the activities and rapid growth of the Washington State Coalition for International Education.

The best way to obtain your copy of the International Teaching Resource Guide is to attend the upcoming International Education Summit on September 18th from 9 am to 3 pm at the University of Washington, in the HUB. Besides publishing the teaching resources guide, the World Affairs Council is also sponsoring a Resource Fair for teachers from 3:30 pm – 6:30 pm at the UW HUB in conjunction with the Summit on September 18th. Classes with clock hours will be available for teachers by registering in advance with the World Affairs Council via the Summit web site.

There are over one hundred community members, business leaders, principals, teachers, parents, and college professors already registered early as participants for the Summit, according to Project Director Michele Anciaux Aoki. She adds, “International educators throughout the State are certain to leave with an abundance of valuable resources for their classrooms by attending the Resource Fair and picking up their copy of the International Teaching Resource Guide.”

Summit participation is free and open to the public. Bento boxes donated by Uwajimaya will be provided to participants who register in advance. For more information and registration details for the Summit and Resource fair, please visit: www.internationaledwa.org/summit.htm.
