Tonight we had a wonderful dinner with all of our partners from Washington state (OSPI, Bridges to Understanding, and World Affairs Council Global Classroom), plus West Virginia and New Jersey, and our host at Vancouver School District, Howard Yank, and our three new visiting teachers from China. It was great to meet IN PERSON to think about our work on global competence and prepare for the day ahead.
We remarked on the fact that while we want to create a “Web 2.0 Presence” for Global Competence, we love being able to actually meet physically in-person with our partners and know them as real people, not just voices on the other end of a conference call. Not the test will be: can we carry out our relationship at a distance in the future?
We gave a special toast to Heidi Hayes Jacobs, who is guiding our work on developing the “Web 2.0 Presence.” She was not with us physically tonight, but we believe she was with us in spirit.
