This project is funded by a grant from Longview Foundation.
Purpose: Grow network of grassroots support for campaign and provide
vivid examples of schools that are successfully integrating global
perspectives, international learning experiences, and world languages.
Timeframe: Ongoing through 2005
Description:
- Enhance the Coalition website
http://internationaledwa.org
by adding a section with links to specific schools, documenting global
studies and world language offerings
- Provide an interface so that schools can update their information
from the 2004 World Languages Survey (See: World Language
Survey Report (PDF) and
World Language Survey PowerPoint (PPT).)
- Link to the OSPI website and highlight connections to the new
Social Studies Classroom-Based Assessments
- Continue to communicate with the Coalition via regular Email
Newsletters, summarizing news and events in International Ed, and
Advocacy Emails with action items

- Updated World Language State
Profile * draft * to include
more languages for high schools and some language reports for
elementary and middle schools.
- Have been working with John Keeler at UW on proposal for Title VI
grant to support collecting longitudinal data on what languages are
taught where in the state.
- Met with representatives from UW on 6/15/2005 to discuss possible
future for World Language Survey data to become part of a longitudinal
study of what languages are taught where in the state. Set up new
group web page for World Language
Profile Group.
- Set up new web page with draft reports from the World Language
Survey:
