Any comments about the program? Suggestions for improvement?
- Thanks for providing this workshop. We need this kind of network.
- Great thanks.
- I would have liked to hear the panel give more specifics about the
challenges and rewards of learning Chinese. They didn't get to speak
too much.
- Having a variety of experts from different organizations made this
interesting.
- Still pondering how to find curriculum for teaching elementary
students interactively.
- Time for small-group discussions related to particular topics
- More information about Heritage teaching in all settings.
- Foreign Language Learning needs to connect to the community.
- More stories from students and other multi-lingual and
multi-cultural individuals
- Wonderful resources
- It is a very interesting program. The emphasis was on
Chinese/Asian languages. It would be very useful if the program
includes African mainly East African languages.
- Not at the moment.
The East Asia Resource Center would like to know what other
international topics you're interested in.
- Curriculums in high school that relate to East Asian. What do
international high schools focus on?
- What is the crossover for Vietnamese, Cambodian, and Chinese? Will
our Vietnamese Students enjoy an advantage in learning Chinese? Can we
capitalize on strengths they may have?
- Unsure
- Discussion groups related to Chinese language teaching methods --
what is most effective in the classroom?
- Globalization, high schools in US with International Studies focus
- About modern China
- Some speakers from business on their needs, what they look for in
an employee
- More on world language teaching (K-12) would be great
The Early Language Learning Group would like to know what other
topics in early language learning you're interested in.
- Ways to build (and catch up in) concepts for heritage language
learners. I'd like to see a curriculum map for concepts so we can
diagnose heritage speakers and help them catch up, without losing
their own heritage pride.
- Unsure
- Promoting education for adults regarding bilingualism,
particularly immigrant parents themselves. What can they do to support
their children maintaining their native tongue?
- How to teach young children and their parents.
- Successful models of language programs (esp. Mandarin)
- Training for teachers
- Learning disability and foreign language program
- Practical ways to address multi-level classes
- Mandarin in Elementary school!
