Advocacy Email - June 9, 2004Subject: Action Needed: Congress Considers $2 Billion Cut (6/9/2004) To: International Education Advocates UPDATE:From US Global Leadership Campaign June, 2004 Congress is beginning work on an appropriations plan that would reduce the President's International Affairs request by $2 billion. Specifically, the House has announced, and the Senate is expected to follow suit, a $2 billion cut below the President's request for the Foreign Operations Bill. These dramatic cuts could have significant effect on the international programs that you care most about. Members of Congress need to hear from you immediately, as they are expected to begin deliberations this month. [Note: Our Washington Senators Murray and Cantwell both signed a letter to the Appropriations Committee in May in support of the President's full budget. See US Global Leadership Campaign > Press Release 5/12/2004.] ACTION: Send an email to State Senators Murray and Cantwell and your representative to urge them to continue to support full funding.
