We invite you to register for the workshop:

Creating a Chinese Language Program

Wednesday, February 4, 2009
6:00-9:00 pm
Light refreshments

Location: Lake Washington School District
16250 NE 74th St, Redmond, WA 98052 (in Redmond Town Center)

Co-sponsored by the Chinese Language Teachers Network, Lakeside School, University Prep, University of Puget Sound, and Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction, with funding from the Longview Foundation through the State Innovations Grant to the Washington State Coalition for International Education. Many thanks to our sponsoring host, Lake Washington School District, and to OSPI, for providing clock hours.

Cost: There is no cost to register, but the Chinese Language Teachers Network welcomes donations. 3 free clock hours will be available to educators who need them.

The program will take an in-depth look at the resources and information available in the publication from Asia Society, Creating a Chinese Language Program in Your School: An Introductory Guide. Members of the Chinese Language Teachers Network will facilitate small groups, as needed, to cover particular points of interest and help connect the suggestions in the Guide to the realities in Washington State. Main presenters are:

  • Adam Ross, Chinese teacher at Lakeside School in Seattle and co-president of the Chinese Language Teachers Network

  • Chunman Gissing, Chinese teacher at University Prep School in Seattle and member of the board of the Chinese Language Teachers Network

  • Dr. Michele Anciaux Aoki, World Languages Program Supervisor, Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction
