Join us for an informative and inspiring
day exploring the current status of world language teaching and learning
in Washington state. This event is the culmination of two years of work
by the Mapping and
Enhancing Language Learning project at the University of Washington,
which is surveying languages taught in our schools and colleges,
analyzing, mapping, and reporting that information, then working with
K-12, higher education institutions, and national language leaders to
identify ways to enhance the experience and the results.

Bridging the Gap for World Languages from High School to College
What are the challenges we face? How can high schools provide more
world language classes so that more students can apply to 4-year
colleges? How can we make “credits” mean something in terms of
proficiency? How can we get high school language programs in sync
with college programs (and avoid remediation)? How can we get beyond
the minimum and expand options like AP, IB, and college in the high
school? Where does online learning fit in? |
